O Brasil ganhou a primeira medalha de ouro nas Olimpíadas de Londres neste sábado (28). A judoca piauiense Sarah Menezes derrotou a campeã olímpica em Pequim 2008, Alina Dimitru, da Romênia, por um waza-ari e um yuko na final da categoria até 48 kg e ficou com o topo do pódio.
Pela primeira vez na história do judô brasileiro uma mulher sobe no topo do pódio nas Olimpíadas. Além deste recorde, trata-se do primeiro ouro da modalidade desde os Jogos Olímpicos de Barcelona, em 1992, quando Rogério Sampaio conquistou o topo do pódio.
Os números não param por aí. Com a vitória, a brasileira fez 4 a 2 no confronto direto com a romena, atual 5ª colocada no ranking mundial da FIJ (Federação Internacional de Judô).
