Canabravenses participam dos festejos de seu padroeiro

No período de 15 a 24 deste mês a comunidade católica de São João da Canabrava participou ativamente dos festejos do seu padroeiro, que este ano chega à sua 55ª edição, tendo como tema “Com São João Batista clamamos por liberdade e paz”. Em todas as novenas e missas a igreja ficou lotada de fiéis, numa evidente demonstração de devoção e fé.
Além dos fiéis de São João da Canabrava, os festejos também contaram com a participação de comunidades vindas de cidades da região, como São Luís do Piauí, Bocaina, Picos, Sussuapara, Santo Antônio de Lisboa, Geminiano, dentre outras. Os trabalhos litúrgicos ficaram a cargo do padre Adauto Vieira, vigário da Paróquia de São José Operário, que teve ainda o auxílio dos padres Davi Barros, Francidilso Silva e Francisco Pereira Borges.
O bispo diocesano de Picos, dom Plínio José, presidiu a missa solene alusiva ao padroeiro na manhã de ontem, terça-feira (24). Em sua pregação, ele destacou a importância de João Batista como profeta e precursor de Jesus Cristo. Logo após a missa aconteceu a procissão pelas principais ruas de São João da Canabrava.
FESTAS PARALELAS
Paralelamente aos festejos religiosos de São João Batista, em São João da Canabrava, também foram realizadas várias festas populares em barracas e clubes, aproveitando o grande número de pessoas presente na cidade. Artistas da terra e de cidades da região fizeram a animação das festas, com destaque para os cantores Edson Sanfoneiro, Dudu Rocha, Cristyano Pipow, Antônio Fábio, Zezinho dos Teclados, Banda Chocalho, dentre outros.
Aproveitando as festividades, o prefeito de São João da Canabrava, Elson Silva de Sousa (PMDB), recepcionou vários amigos em seu município, dentre eles o advogado Severo Maria Eulálio Neto, que é filho do prefeito de Picos, Kleber Eulálio e também pré candidato a deputado estadual.
