O jogo foi resolvido nos primeiros vinte minutos. O Picos teve um começo arrasador, jogando com uma postura ofensiva e começou a marcar dois gols logo no início do jogo, com Raphael Freitas e Renato Frota. Depois, foi só administrar o resultado e segurar a pressão do Cori-Sabbá, que cresceu na partida, principalmente nos minutos finais.

Com a vitória, o Picos foi a seis pontos e assumiu temporariamente a terceira colocação do campeonato, com seis pontos, mas pode perder a posição para Parnahyba e Barras, que ainda jogam na rodada. Já o Cori-Sabbá amargou a segunda derrota consecutiva e permanece na parte de baixo da tabela, dividindo a lanterna com o 4 de Julho, ambos com um ponto.
O Zangão volta a campo no próximo sábado (23), contra o River-PI, novamente jogando em casa, no Helvídio Nunes. No mesmo dia, o Cori-Sabbá recebe o Barras em seus domínios, jogando no Estádio Tibério Nunes.
Jogo resolvido em 20 minutos
O Picos começou arrasador no ínicio da primeira etapa para construir sua vantagem. Com dois gols em menos de 20 minutos, o Zangão tomou a frente no placar e depois apenas administrou o resultado na primeira metade do jogo.
O time picoense assumiu uma postura ofensiva, como vinha sendo pedido pelo técnico Cícero Monteiro nos treinos no decorrer da semana. A pressão deu resultado aos 11 minutos, quando Raphael Freitas aproveitou cruzamento de Lanlan pela direita e cabeceou para o fundo do gol. Este foi o terceiro gol do atacante no campeonato, que entra definitivamente na briga pela artilharia.
A dianteira no marcador se confirmou ainda mais aos 17 minutos. Renato Frota cobrou falta da intermediária, a bola desviou no lateral Pierre, do Cori-Sabbá, e enganou o goleiro Andrey, que não pode evitar o segundo gol do time da casa.
Depois de marcar pela segunda vez, o Picos diminuiu o ritmo e o Cori-Sabbá cresceu no jogo. O time de Floriano criou algumas jogadas e chegou a oferecer perigo em algumas delas. Aos 30 minutos, a zaga do Picos cortou um cruzamento rasteiro que já seria alcançado por Cafezinho. O goleiro Mondragon ainda deu um chutão para a frente para afastar de vez o perigo. Mesmo melhorando, o Cori não conseguiu marcar e foi para o intervalo perdendo por dois gols de diferença.
Expulsões e pressão, mas nada de gol
O domínio picoense do primeiro tempo não se repetiu, mas o Cori-Sabbá também não conseguiu reagir, mesmo tendo maior posse de bola. Os lances mais marcantes do segundo tempo foram as expulsões, uma para cada lado.
A segunda etapa começou como terminou a segunda. Um Cori-Sabbá que ficava mais tempo com a bola, mas não conseguia criar chances reais de gol. Assim, quem assustou primeiro foi o Picos, aos 11 minutos, quando Bibi limpou a zaga na entrada da área e bateu rasteiro no canto direito, obrigando o goleiro Andrey a fazer boa defesa e espalmar para escanteio.
A situação piorou para o time de Floriano quando, aos 18 minutos, Alanzinho fez falta dura e levou cartão vermelho direto. O Picos também perderia Lanlan, que sentiu a coxa e foi substituído por Jairo. Aos 26 minutos, igualdade no número de jogadores: Fabiano fez falta, levou o segundo amarelo e também foi expulso, deixando cada time com dez em campo.
O Cori cresceu. Cafezinho pegou a bola na entrada da área, pelo lado direito, mas, ao puxar para a perna esquerda, deu tempo da zaga chegar para desviar o chute para escanteio. Depois foi a vez de Franzé, que recebeu após bela troca de passes no setor ofensivo do Cori. O jogador, que havia entrado no lugar de Toni, invadiu a área e bateu cruzado, mas também foi cortado pela zaga.
O time de Floriano permaneceu no ataque, pressionando até o fim, principalmente nas jogadas de Cafezinho. Mesmo assim, o time não conseguiu marcar e amargou a segunda derrota consecutiva no campeonato, a terceira em três jogos. Já o Picos, respira e volta a sonhar com a liderança.
