- Tony Borges inaugura estrada na zona rural

Acompanhado de assessores, lideranças políticas e centenas de populares, o prefeito de Geminiano Tony Borges inaugurou no final da tarde do último sábado, dia 19, a estrada de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, que liga o povoado Samambaia dos Marques à sede do município, através da rodovia Picos–Itainópolis e a Br 407, numa extensão de aproximadamente 4 km. A obra foi construída com recursos do tesouro municipal, sem parceria com outras esferas de governo.
Para marcar a entrega do benefício à comunidade de Samambaia dos Marques, o prefeito Tony Borges e demais populares caminharam cerca de 1,5 km pelo novo trecho e no cruzamento com a PI Picos-Itainópolis fez o desenlace da fita inaugural.

Logo em seguida o empresário Naldo Veículos e seu pai, Helvidinho, ofereceram um churrasco em sua chácara aos presentes, sendo que na oportunidade o prefeito Tony Borges também assinou a ordem de serviço para construção de calçamento no povoado Samambaia dos Marques, cujos serviços serão executados pela empresa F. Eugênio Guimarães Leôncio, vencedora da licitação. Nesta obra serão investidos recursos em montante superior a R$ 300.000,00.
Além do prefeito Tony Borges, também estiveram presentes o deputado estadual Kleber Eulálio (PMDB), o líder político Antônio Gezimar (Azul), a primeira-dama Cleonice Bezerra, os vereadores Ranilson Moura, Nenildo Hipólito, Luís Gonzaga, Wilson Luz, Luzimar Hipólito e Joaquim Gonçalves (Netinho), como também os secretários Pedro Leandro (Infra-Estrutura) e José Borges Filho (Saúde), o presidente do PMDB, Manoel Borges, o vereador de Picos, Hugo Victor, dentre outros.

A denominação de estrada de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios foi atribuída pelo prefeito Tony Borges em homenagem à padroeira de Picos, cuja imagem foi trazida de Portugal, passando no local onde hoje fica o município de Geminiano, em ombros escravos. A referida estrada era também a única ligação por terra entre a Bahia e o Maranhão, há cerca de 300 anos.
